Xtream Codes is a common account format that normally uses a server address, username, and password. Those details are issued by the service you subscribe to. The player reads them; it does not create a working account or unlock channels by itself.
What you should receive
- Server URL: the host address, sometimes with a port number.
- Username: the account name assigned to you.
- Password: the private credential for the account.
Some services also provide an M3U URL generated from the same account. Do not change the server address or remove the port unless the provider tells you to. Store the details privately because they may identify your account and device limits.
How to add Xtream Codes to a player
- Install a compatible player from a trusted app store.
- Select Login with Xtream Codes API or the equivalent option.
- Enter the server URL in the server field, without accidentally duplicating the protocol.
- Enter the username and password exactly as supplied.
- Save the profile and wait for live TV, VOD, and series categories to load.
- Test a channel, the guide, and one on-demand item separately.
If you are still choosing a player, compare format support and update history in the IPTV apps guide.
How to tell what failed
| Symptom | Likely area to check |
|---|---|
| Login failed immediately | Server address, username, password, expiry, or account status |
| Login succeeds but categories are empty | Account permissions, filters, provider data, or a stale profile |
| Live TV works but EPG is blank | Time zone, guide source, or channel mapping |
| Only some channels buffer | Source stream or provider-side capacity |
| Every channel buffers | Network, player, device, or provider outage |
Fixing a failed login
First check for hidden spaces introduced while copying. Confirm whether the service expects a full URL or only a host and port. Test the account on one other supported device if possible, but do not share the credentials with another person.
If the same details fail everywhere, contact the provider and ask whether the account is active, whether the server changed, and whether simultaneous connections are limited. If the details work on one device but not another, focus on the player or device settings. The IPTV troubleshooting guide gives a full diagnostic sequence.
EPG and category problems
Xtream-based players often receive programme guide data as part of the account response, but the result still depends on the player’s time zone and cache. Set the device clock automatically, refresh the guide, and allow the player a few minutes to process a large list.
Missing categories may come from the account plan, a hidden filter, or a provider-side change. Do not assume that reinstalling the player will add content that the account does not include.
Security and account care
Never post the server URL, username, and password together. Avoid unknown portals that ask you to upload the credentials for “testing.” Use the official support address, keep your invoice, and remove the profile from devices you no longer control.
Before subscribing, evaluate the service’s ownership, content rights, support, renewal, and refund information. A functional login is not by itself proof that a service is reliable or authorised.
